Skip the Party! The joy of an UN-Gala is that you don't actually have to attend a weekday evening event. You will be UN-stressed about leaving work to get there on time, UN-concerned about the weather, and UN-bothered by figuring out what to wear.

But that's not all...

More of your contributions will directly support the enterprising Bronx teens who are part of our Urban Ecology Teen Internship program--because NONE of the money raised will be spent on catering, decorations, photographers, fancy invitations, printing a
40-page journal, or renting a venue.

And finally, in addition to being UN-demanding of your time, the UN-Gala demands less of the environment. It is designed to reduce the ecological cost of producing an event (electricity, gas, paper/trees, water and more). You will be part of the most ecologically sound UN-event possible...an UN-Gala!

We will still produce an UN-Gala Journal which, in keeping with the event’s low ecological footprint goal, will only be available online and by eBlast. The only paper we will use will be a postcard invitation. High-level sponsors will receive carrot cake and a bottle of Prosecco so that they can have a virtual party, whenever and wherever they want.

Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy’s Urban Ecology Teen Internship (Urban Eco-Teens), a year-round program, gives local underserved high school students the opportunity to succeed in their first college experience while concurrently working alongside field professionals. They not only develop usable skills, they develop an understanding of the complexity of natural resource management issues and an awareness of the scope of careers in environmental science.
